Curriculum

Curriculum

Austin Peace Academy seeks to educate the total child.  The curriculum is challenging and geared toward the objective of preparing our students to excel in all their endeavors.  We recognize that each student is an individual and thus the curriculum needs to be flexible enough to meet the needs of every student.  The small class sizes enable teachers to tailor the educational experience to each individual student.  When this need is met, the curriculum is challenging to every student while at the same time no student is overwhelmed.  Our ultimate aim is for each student to reach his or her full potential.

Austin Peace Academy’s curriculum is generally accelerated, and its students are challenged to perform consistently beyond grade-level.  The achievement of this goal can be observed in the excellent scores of Austin Peace Academy students on standardized tests.

The Austin Peace Academy curriculum consists of:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • History and Social Studies
  • Science
  • Arabic Language
  • Islamic Studies
  • Computer Science
  • Physical Education

Information Technology Infrastructure

Austin Peace Academy has a state of the art information technology infrastructure. The school has a high-tech computer lab equipped with modern workstations. The computers reside on a domain server and are well protected via fire-wall and anti-virus software. The school is well-connected to the internet through modern servers running Windows 2003 server. Every classroom is equipped with computers that have internet access. The school is administered using a modern School Management System. The School Management System handles a number of tasks including Student Registration, Grades, Attendance, and Billing. Peace has established a well-defined curriculum for computer education. All of our teachers and students are now members of Learning.com, an ambitious program that teaches students numerous activities such as word processing, spreadsheet development, database design, graphic/website design, and programming. Austin Peace Academy continuously strives to keep its staff well-trained on modern technologies as they emerge.

Islamic Studies

In summer 2003, a new Islamic Studies Lab was constructed. The lab is now an integral part of the instructional program at Austin Peace Academy, dedicated to providing our students with the best possible resources and services. The lab is geared toward promoting active learning by assisting students in accessing, evaluating, and utilizing information in many forms. The lab has its own library of Islamic books, videos, computers with internet access and cassettes and is equipped with the most modern audio and visual equipment.

General Policies

School starts at 8:00 a.m. with a morning assembly. The first class begins at 8:10 a.m. and school ends at 3:15 p.m. The school day consists of seven 45 minute class periods, five minute passing periods, a 20-minute period for Salat al-Dhuhr, and a 45-minute Lunch period. We highly recommend that students make appointments during times when classes do not meet for non-school related matters, such as for dental and medical check-ups.
